This shot of Ho99o9 was taken outside Club Dada in Dallas, TX, on a day that feels like it was meant to happen. I was on tour with The Dillinger Escape Plan during their final U.S. run, and the night before, we were hanging outside the bus, talking about bands that could join them on their upcoming European tour. I mentioned my friend Brandon Pertzborn—who’s on the left in this photo—and said he was drumming for a band called Ho99o9. Billy Rymer, Dillinger’s drummer, immediately lit up and talked about how much he loved them, saying they’d be a perfect fit for the tour.

The very next morning, I got a text from Brandon: “Are you in Dallas? Ho99o9 is playing at Club Dada.” What are the odds? We walked over to meet them earlier in the day, and I snapped these promo shots outside the venue. Yeti Bones, theOGM, and Brandon were just as real and captivating in person as they are onstage. Later that night, we went back to watch them play—and they completely tore it up. Their live show was unlike anything I’d ever seen—raw, unrelenting, and utterly captivating.

What makes this moment even more special is that Ho99o9 did end up joining Dillinger Escape Plan on their European tour shortly after. Seeing that initial conversation turn into reality felt like the perfect culmination of everything falling into place. Years later, the story continued when Billy became the drummer for Ho99o9, and I toured with them across the U.S. in 2022. They’ve since become one of my all-time favorite bands to work with—their energy, creativity, and authenticity are unmatched.
