Item Description
Chain Reaction isn’t just a venue—it’s a landmark in punk, metal, and alternative music history. Located at 1652 Lincoln Ave, Anaheim, CA 92801, this legendary all-ages space has been a cornerstone for underground music since its inception in 1996. Anyone who grew up in the Southern California music scene knows that this unassuming building in Anaheim has hosted some of the most legendary underground shows of all time. Over the years, it has hosted a plethora of bands that went on to achieve great success, including At The Drive-In, Death Cab for Cutie, Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, 18 Visions, and Saosin. Thanks to the efforts of original owner Tim Hill and renowned talent buyer Jon Halperin, the venue gained early acclaim for booking future household names.
I’ve spent countless nights inside these walls, packed shoulder to shoulder with friends, strangers, and future legends. But there’s something special about the way it looks from the outside at night—the neon glow, the quiet before the storm of another unforgettable show. This shot captures that feeling, a moment of stillness before the chaos, the anticipation that something incredible is about to happen.
The venue’s no-alcohol policy has made it a safe haven for young music fans, ensuring that generations of concertgoers could experience live music in an intimate, energetic setting. Chain Reaction continues to thrive as a beloved space for both musicians and fans, staying true to its DIY punk ethos and community spirit. For those who haven’t, it’s a glimpse into a venue that has been a rite of passage for bands and fans alike.
