This shot was taken just off Casino Point on the coast of Catalina Island, CA, in 2015. I remember floating in the clear, aqua-blue water, mesmerized by the light dancing across the surface and the world beneath it. The swimmer in the distance added a sense of scale and serenity, perfectly embodying the peaceful isolation of being surrounded by the ocean.
Catalina Island is one of my favorite places to capture underwater scenes. The water here is unbelievably clear, making it a haven for snorkeling and diving. Every time I visit, I’m struck by the vibrant shades of blue and the way the sunlight filters through, creating natural patterns that look almost surreal.
